In other words, the city spends the equivalent of just under two cents a year in property taxes on the zoo.

Meanwhile, the total revenues of the Memphis Zoological Society were $15 million a year in the most recent IRS reports.

Under the heading of outsourcing management, the zoo seems like a success story.

As to the cutting of vital services, that's a tried and proven political strategy to keep from making the hard decisions.

SCCSmart City Consultinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13985783340016474051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12509286.post-1143046920591020922006-03-22T11:02:00.000-06:002006-03-22T11:02:00.000-06:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12509286.post-1142991534584071322006-03-21T19:38:00.000-06:002006-03-21T19:38:00.000-06:00Write to the zoo and ask them ... zooinfo@memphisz...Write to the zoo and ask them ... zooinfo@memphiszoo.orgAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12509286.post-1142975770037536762006-03-21T15:16:00.000-06:002006-03-21T15:16:00.000-06:00You touched on something I'm curious about. How much does our zoo cost us?

Why is it that when we face budget cuts things like that, the museums and the golf courses never get mentioned as being cut or sold? Instead, they go straight to cutting vital services.

Just curious.Michael Roy Hollihanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15275044959782899550noreply@blogger.com
