He also doesn't want people to know that the county is making interest only payments on the 2.8 billion dollars we owe.

Such leadership! Instead of decrying Bunker, how about concentrating on the mayor!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12509286.post-36628571470236648382008-02-02T18:04:00.000-06:002008-02-02T18:04:00.000-06:00You seem to think the county needs more money. I believe there's some waste that could be cut out of their budget before we raise taxes. Mine have doubled in the last 5 years. That's unacceptable to me when I see services decrease.

Shelby Co. let development run rampant with no controls. Are the developers paying for the infrastructure? No. The widening of Walnut Grove? Who paid for that? I paid for part of it and yet rarely use it.

I can't afford another hike in my county or city real estate taxes. If it goes up, I'll have to sell my house and move to tipton county. How long can the city/county afford to have people leave? Not long, I suspect.Save This MGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08922374493922701067noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12509286.post-25547097236501572712008-01-31T12:55:00.000-06:002008-01-31T12:55:00.000-06:00Thanks for this post. I wrote a letter to the CA supporting Wharton's proposal, noting that those working in Shelby County but living elsewhere pay fewer taxes to Shelby County than practically every other group that uses our taxes dollars.

I was disappointed that he withdrew it as he tends to do with anything that raises a shred of controversy. Perhaps we need a cross between AC and WW.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
